as the sunlight fades from a crystalline dusk
I lay awake feeling like an empty husk
the endless ocean of black before me
lit only by the furthest lights at the end of the sea
my soul longs to fall into those elder waves
to ride the darkness forever more
to see what only time saves
and to wonder at the cosmos but what for?
I gaze into an empty bliss
to wish for a night such as this
with the one that I love
and in that forever trust.
